Off the Beaten Path is owned and operated company by self-trained artist, Joanie Robertson. Robertson has been an artist for 40 years and has been the owner of Off the Beaten Path since 2005.
Robertson's offbeat, unique art uses the gourd as its canvas. She uses dyes and paints on a variety of different types of gourds of all shapes and sizes from whole gourds and open bowls and baskets down to the smaller banana gourd and beautiful gourd eggs. In addition, she uses portions of gourds to design decorative wind chimes, gourd masks in any tribal design and gourd jewelry and other useful and enjoyable items. The artist is constantly innovating and always finding more creative uses for the gourd.
Along with her gourd art, Joanie also works with wood and decorates jewelry, storage and prayer boxes. Whether with her gourds or wooden boxes, she enjoys the use of a wide variety of mixed-media techniques to make each piece one-of-a-kind. If you have specific size or color requirements or a thematic idea that you want to utilize, contact Joanie with a call or an e-mail. She can suggest a solution to suit your needs. |
